August 28 — patent priority
A patent family later credited to Aaron Michael Zack, Mohsin Thara and William Rock traces its earliest reported priority date to August 28, 2018.

What if a sauna could remember preferences, connect with services, and bring media into a personal wellness routine? That question appears in a patent family I helped invent.
This is a public technical history, not a medical treatment claim or a statement that every patented feature shipped.
THE HUMAN STORY / WHY I CARE
When I worked for Sunlighten, I sometimes stepped into a demonstration sauna fully dressed, used gentle warmth for comfort and went back to work. At other times I booked an mPulse session at the Day Spa. Audio, quiet and breathing were part of those experiences, and I still use a Solo System on difficult pain days.
At the same time, I was involved in technology work that appears in the public patent record. That overlap is the interesting story here: the person who valued the experience was also a named inventor on connected-sauna technology.
I am one of three credited inventors, alongside Aaron Michael Zack and Mohsin Thara. The patent record identifies Sunlighten as the assignee. It does not establish that I alone invented the system or that I own the granted patents.

Open each card to see the original idea, why someone managing discomfort might care, and the specific limits of our source evidence. These aren't instructions for modifying sauna hardware.
The connected-sauna patents describe local sauna controls and a remote server as components of a networked system. The 2019-era mPulse used in-sauna controls with software and preset options, while current PulseIQ materials describe independently controllable wavelength output.
Someone living with variable pain may value easy, flexible controls and the ability to choose comfortable settings.
The patent does not establish which exact control functions were shipped in the specific sauna used in 2017–2019; modern PulseIQ controls are not automatically implementations of the networking claims.
PATENT DISCLOSURE · US 11,491,079 · original connected-sauna patent ↗
The patents describe media files provided by remote services for a user. Sunlighten’s public mPulse manuals and support pages independently document a tablet, speakers and audio/media apps.
Audio, quiet and meditation were meaningful parts of the author’s own Day Spa routine.
A patent mention does not establish a specific streaming service, playlist, app or personalized media behavior on a given production sauna.
MANUFACTURER SUPPORT · Sunlighten · Conquer official support ↗
The patent disclosure describes recording user profiles and usage information so they can be accessed at more than one connected sauna. This is part of the proposed network architecture.
A person with a comfort-oriented routine might find repeatable preferences helpful, especially when visiting multiple locations.
We have not verified that profile roaming was commercially implemented across arbitrary Sunlighten locations or that historic personal session logs are recoverable.
PATENT DISCLOSURE · US 11,857,489 · connected-sauna network ↗
The patent family describes communication with remote servers and the potential linking of multiple sauna locations. Sunlighten’s support material separately discusses account setups involving multiple saunas at commercial locations.
Connected hardware could make technical operation, media and user support more consistent across different settings.
The published patents do not prove a global network of customer saunas was deployed or that a current product reproduces every proposed feature.

DOCUMENTED TECHNOLOGY / 2018–2026
A patent family later credited to Aaron Michael Zack, Mohsin Thara and William Rock traces its earliest reported priority date to August 28, 2018.
Review original source ↗The filed disclosure sets out a system with local sauna hardware, remote communication, media and user-profile concepts. It is an invention disclosure—not a list of proven shipped features.
Review original source ↗The author’s November 2019 first-person story, hosted by Sunlighten, describes Conquer sessions, rest and media, and a Solo system at home. It is personal experience, not a clinical experiment.
Review original source ↗The first of the two identified U.S. connected-sauna patents in this family was granted. The listed assignee is Sunlighten.
Review original source ↗Another patent covering related remote-network, profile and sauna functionality was granted; the same inventors are listed.
Review original source ↗Sunlighten’s 2025 tech guide documents controls, Bluetooth audio, wellness programs, custom programs and scheduling. It is evidence about this guide/generation, not a 2018 session log.
Review original source ↗Sunlighten announced PulseIQ with independent red, near-, mid- and far-infrared control and six guided wellness programs. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not clinical outcome verification.

Describe profiles, media, local controls and remote-server networks. The patent family names three inventors and Sunlighten as assignee.
Read the patent ↗Sunlighten's official Conquer support and pre-2024 manuals describe an in-sauna tablet, app, speakers and generation-specific features.
Explore period manuals ↗Sunlighten announced independently controlled red, near-, mid- and far-infrared channels and six guided programs. These are current manufacturer feature claims, not CRPS treatment outcomes.
Read the announcement ↗Important: We have not demonstrated that modern PulseIQ implements the remote-profile and global-network claims of the earlier patents. Nor can a patent, a sauna feature list, or my positive experience prove CRPS treatment effectiveness.
A NOTE FROM THE BOATHOUSE RABBIT 🐰
It turns out my favorite part of this story isn't the patent paperwork. It's that something as simple as a little warmth during a hard workday helped me keep living, working and inventing. Understanding the engineering is fascinating. Understanding what it meant to a human being is why this site exists.
